With the Summer Season looming we’ve been super busy getting ourselves prepared!
March is shaping up to be a very busy month for us with our third annual wedding fayre and the return of The Gillie Mor and The Wave North festival! April is just as busy with the opening of our brand new Dounreay exhibition, we can’t wait to unveil it to you all!
We’ve been going jelly crazy recently due to our entry into Culture24’s – Connect 10 competition which saw Caithness Horizons, the SS Great Britain and The Belgrave Hall Museum compete for votes from the public to win the opportunity to work with jelly artists Bompas and Parr. We wanted to win the competition so that we could work with these renowned artists to create a jelly sculpture of the Dounreay dome to coincide with the Museums at Night national celebrations and to mark the opening of our brand new Dounreay exhibition. Voting closed on Monday 5th March. Unfortunately we did not win the competition but we came in a very close second place to the SS Great Britain. Thousands of votes were cast and the final count showed just 425 votes between us and the winners. We would like to thank everyone that supported our bid and voted for us. Our new Dounreay exhibition opens to the public on 6th April. Look out for free Dounreay related activities during the Festival of Museums weekend in May.
