The Caithness Horizons shop stocks a wide variety of gifts and books. We specialise in unique gifts from individual makers in the Highlands and Islands and Caithness where possible many of these items being exclusive to us at Caithness Horizons. Exclusive items include beautiful clocks and coasters made from the famous Caithness Flagstone by local company Caithness Stoneware and gorgeous jewellery from Nezuimiz depicting the sea and unique Caithness landscape.

We stock a variety of edible goodies, biscuits and preserves all from locally sourced companies. Berry Good fruit flavoured Vodka from Watten, the very popular Reid’s of Caithness biscuits and our most recent addition is cider from Thistly Cross, Scotland’s only cider producer.  Perfect for those Summer garden parties!

Our extensive range also includes contemporary Scottish Gifts such as Cadadh handbags, beutifully made from Harris Tweed!  We have a fantastic range of items from Gillian Kyle, her Creamola Foam and Tunnock’s Teacake inspired mugs, bags and t-shirts give a touch of Scottish retro in a contemporary style.

For kids we carry a range of Natural Science items, children’s educational and story books and retro toys which are popular with young and old alike.

Far and away the speciality and uniqueness of the Caithness Horizons shop is items by local to Caithness and the Highlands and Islands Makers. We pride ourselves on this and the fact that something different can be found in our shop. We stock prints and original drawings by local artist Helen Moore and have fabulous photographic prints of Thurso East. Prints from the Johnson Collection of Caithness in a bygone age are ever so popular with visitors and local poeple, they make a gorgeous gift.  We also stock Jewellery from several local makers and fantastic crochet work from Christine Hague-Clarke.

Our range of books includes the very popular brand new Stroma book which was launched earlier this year.  We also have Stroma prints for sale too.  As well as our variety of books from Historic Scotland on The Pics and The Vikings, we also have books by local authors ranging in subjects from walking guides to historical sites of interest.

Our Current Featured Maker is Local Thurso Lass Lisa Poulsen of Inspired By Caithness, see our ‘In The Press’ page for her recent newspaper debut! We have a wide selection of Lisa’s prints framed and unframed in our shop and some beautiful greetings cards too! Her unique and modern take on our beautiful county has been ever so popular so far and we wish her all the best for the future!
