About us

Welcome to Caithness Horizons, a fascinating Museum that brings to life the history and culture of Caithness.

Caithness Horizons houses a permanent collection that tells the story of the county of Caithness from 416 million years ago to the present day including the Picts, the Vikings and the history of the Dounreay Nuclear Research Establishment.

There is always lots of exciting things happening at Caithness Horizons which we regularly document on here and on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Recently, our Museum curator has been in discussion with the guys at the Manhattan Project National Historic Park.  Caithness Horizons is continually trying to forge links internationally with other Museums and visitor attractions that hold nuclear heritage collections.  You can read about the Manhattan Project National Historic Park project by clicking here.
